Cuban actor William Levy will undergo an anger management program after being arrested in Florida for causing a disturbance while allegedly intoxicated.

Levy was scheduled to appear before Judge Melinda Brown at the Broward Criminal Court on Wednesday, June 4, but neither he nor his attorney arrived on time.

The hearing was related to his April 14 arrest, when he was charged with trespassing on private property and disorderly conduct.

For these charges, the telenovela star had to post a $500 bond.

The incident, which attracted attention from both U.S. and Latin American media, occurred under circumstances suggesting the actor was not in full control of his faculties.

According to the court report, William Levy was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the altercation.

Forty minutes after the hearing had concluded, attorney Regina Tsombanakis appeared before the judge to request a postponement of the proceedings.

During the brief appearance, Tsombanakis informed the judge that her client would begin an NDP, a program designed to address anger, alcohol use, and other impulsive behaviors.

“Although he initially pleaded not guilty, Tsombanakis told the judge that the actor would enter an NDP — a program for managing anger, alcohol, and so forth. And the hearing was concluded,” reported a local media outlet.

According to Milenio, the court accepted the request and rescheduled the hearing for June 26 at 9:00 a.m. local time in Miami.

Although the actor has not issued a public statement about the incident, his legal team has confirmed that he is cooperating with authorities and aiming to resolve the matter responsibly.

The case has sparked mixed reactions among fans, many of whom expressed surprise and concern over William Levy’s behavior.

How the incident unfolded

According to the show Ventaneando, the events took place following a meal with friends at a Florida restaurant.

Upon receiving the bill, William Levy reportedly believed the total was excessive and began arguing with the staff.

Tensions escalated, and the actor left the premises upset without paying the full amount. However, he later returned after realizing he had left his cell phone on the table.

Upon returning, he encountered police officers who were already at the scene waiting for him. He was then arrested on the aforementioned charges.

Background and legal next steps

Legal experts have noted that voluntarily entering a program like the NDP could work in William Levy’s favor in court.

If he completes the program successfully, he may receive a reduced sentence or even see some charges dismissed.

For now, the matter is in the hands of the court, which will reassess the case at the end of June.

This case marks one of the most significant setbacks in his professional career, Milenio reported.
